Writing Assignment #1

Out of many photographs that I could have chosen, I picked this one from the days preceding the September 11 attacks. This photograph somewhat looks like the flag rising after the battle in Iwo Jima, also shown in the background of this photograph(being for victory), yet the 9/11 photograph gives a patriotic, spirit and unity meaning. It also represents how things can change in a matter of seconds. How this photo pertains to me is, these attacks happened when I was in high school and in the transition of choosing either going to school, or joining the military. I chose the military, United States Air Force Security Forces. In a sense, I wanted to show my (and many others) support for our country. Many people’s lives were changed on this day, both in the United States and worldwide. This photograph shows so much willpower and determination to return to its once sovereign nation. These firefighters with a gesture (such as raising the flag after falling), showed so much strength. Which someday I wish to exhibit.
